I am a Chartered Accountant and former CFM with more than 35 years of experience across accounting, audit, financial management, business systems, operations and general management.

A career grounded in practical finance

My working life has involved much more than producing accounts. I have worked with management teams, systems and operating businesses where financial information must be accurate, timely and useful. That experience taught me to look beyond the numbers: to understand how decisions are made, where processes break down and what an organisation needs in order to move forward with confidence.

I have particular interest in financial analysis, management reporting, controls, accounting and ERP systems, business performance and the translation of complex information into clear recommendations. I value sound judgement, intellectual honesty and solutions that work in the real world.

What I am doing now

Although I have retired from full-time corporate life, I remain professionally engaged. I continue to follow business, markets and technology closely and I am exploring how responsible use of artificial intelligence can improve research, analysis, communication and everyday decision-making.

I am also open to selected remote finance-related assignments, particularly work where an experienced, independent perspective can help with analysis, reporting, systems, controls or business decisions. I am legally able to undertake suitable work in both the United Kingdom and Kenya.

Why this website exists

This is my independent publishing home. I write about business, finance and technology from a practitioner’s perspective, with particular interest in the decisions, systems and emerging tools that shape organisational performance. The aim is not to sound corporate or promotional. It is to offer useful context, balanced opinions and observations shaped by experience.

The articles combine analysis with practical judgement. In every case, I want the writing to be clear, approachable and useful to the reader.
